The Library Tour is one program that the Bogor City Library has found to be very effective in increase the love for reading. This is not just a boring tour through a building but a fun filled programed full of story telling, arts & crafts and fun. The purpose of the Library Tour is to introduce the world of books to kids along with their parents and help them to see the library as a fun place to visit together.
The Bogor City Library first began to promote this program to the schools in the greater Bogor area. Cinta Baca libraries are set up to be interesting and fun places, but its not just the layout that suprises kids and their families when they arrive. Offering a range of creative activities and programs in the library helps change the traditional perspective parents and kids have of a library and begins to open their minds to a whole new world. During this program the kids are told a story from a book that usually highlights some character trait or theme. The kids and the adults are asked to act out the stories making for some pretty funny interactions. Together with other activities the kids begin to develop an imagination that springs out of a real heart for reading on their own.
The Library Tour program has really helped teachers and parents to become more creative in nuturing a love for reading in their kids. It is never too early to begin to develop regular habits of reading in a child.
