On February 17, 2011 the Lurah of Tegal Gundil, Bogor Baru and the National Director of Cinta Baca kicked off the 3rd CB Preschool play group (Kelompok Belajar Anak Cinta Baca – KEBACA).
This program is offered once a year and has become a regular offering of Cinta Baca in Bogor. It is specifically designed for children of families that otherwise would not be able to participate in pre-school programs due to economic limitations of their families.
This 3rd class was made up of 10 children from the Tegal Gundil and Desa Nagrak areas. The program and will run for 5 months with meetings 3 times a week each time for 2 hours.
The uniquness of this program is that the children are accompanied by their parent at each clas. This is required for Cinta Baca also wants to encourage the parents to have a large role in their childs education and come along side them through out their journey. The parents will then also be able to continue the lessons and teaching while the children are in the home.
In his opening remarks, the Lurah of Tegal Gundi, Mr Dedan motivated the parents to not waste this opportunity. He encouraged the children to be diligent in learning for they will be held responsible in the age to come. He mentioned that the school at Cinta Baca is very different than other schools because of the number of books available for the kids to read. In other places perhaps more time is spent on the playground since there aren’t as many books for the children to enjoy.
