The Bright Learners Challenge (Perlombaan Cerdas Cermat) between ten Reading Posts in Banten ran from 9:00a to 1:00 pm on April 15, 2012 in Pandeglang. This activity was lead by Ibu Hellawati from the Pasir Jati Reading Post in Pandeglang and attended by local governmental leaders and parents. This competition draws on the kids interest in reading and is designed to help grow the students ability to learning.
Ten Reading Posts from Banten participated in this activity. The day also included competitive events such as coloring, drawing, poetry, and story telling. Preschool children also competed in a puzzle making competition together with their mothers.
After the event, Huda, one of Cinta Baca’s field staff in the area explain why this event was such a success when he said,
“Not all Reading Posts have local operator(s) who are full of so much enthusiaism, but thankfully Pandeglang has several such operators who are also very faithful and responsible when it comes to running their posts. Furthermore these operators also run a number of interesting programs that help these Reading Posts to truely succeed and excite the kids. These local operators desire to use these kinds of programs to not only promote the different reading posts in the area to the local government and the department of Education but to also see the love for reading increase among the kids.”
Reading Post are designed to be a place for maximized learning, which also run a variety of programs and activities that creatively engage and excite the community to excel in reading.
