Program “Wisata keluarga” (Family Outing) began is an invitation for parents to come to the library on saturday when they didn’t have to work. The purpose of this program was to encourage parents to see the value of reading books together with their kids, and also to raise support for the local library. The first Family Outing program started on August 4th 2012 with each family contributing Rp 20,000 each.
This program started up again in early September with three families that each had children under the age of 5 (Balita). The parents worked together with the staff to put on this program for the kids. The program is designed to help parents select books that fit their childs age and also which will help build the childs character. Other activities such as drawing, coloring, adding, glueing, puzzles and reconizing letters and numbers are also demonstrated to the parents.

This time they read together the book ” IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE”. As they read the story the kids are encourage to paste-up specific pictures, and sing different songs. The kids then have a chance to share about their vacation. The kids bring the crafts they made home and tell others in the family about the story they read.
