The handing over of Reading Posts to the community is the main focus and the largest challenge for Cinta Baca in 2012. Reading Posts are expected to be locally run after one year of operation. There are two things that will make this possible. First of all, the community and the local government need to be trained to operate these posts, and expand their capabilities to incorporate their management and oversight. This is basically an empowerment issue, where the community paradigm changes to one where they no longer see themselves dependent on help from the outside.
The release of a Reading Post for the community to run on its own is expected to happen after one year of operation because by this time the community should have already seen the huge benefit of having a post in their area. After one year the Cinta Baca staff should already have had enough time to find quality people who share the organizations passion for education and who can be trusted with the local management of a reading post. The credibility our local staff has developed in that area now needs to be transfered to these local volunteers and leaders for things to really take root.
