On September 14th, Cinta Baca celebrated it’s 14th year in the community. For fourteen years Cinta Baca had been working together with local communities, governments, and the society to raise reading interest among the local community with its interesting programs.
During it’s 14th celebration in Cinta Baca Library in Bogor, Pak Pardomuan Nainggolan as one of the founders of Cinta Baca Foundation shared the background of the establishment of Cinta Baca Foundation. It all was started with his concern that many schools did not have proper libraries, not to add the fact that reading level in Indonesia was very low. So he and those who concerned about education in Indonesia started to bring the idea of making a good library that could be accessed by those who lived in rural areas and areas with limited access to book stores.
From Bogor, West Java, Cinta Baca Foundation had spread out to other provinces such as Sumatra, Sulawesi and Papua (soon).
Representatives from local governments also came to celebrate Cinta Baca’s 14th anniversary as a prove of their acknowledgment of Cinta Baca Foundation who tried to be partnering with locals in education sector.
