Ibu Jenni is one of Smart Learning training participants in PAUD Qurrata A’yun Reading Post, in Aceh. She actively reads stories to her five years old daughter, Balqis Andiny.
After the third meeting, Ibu Jenni shared that Balqis starts to read stories to her 20 months – baby sister. She might not able to read yet, but Balqis shows pictures in her book and tells her own story according to the pictures, to her baby sister.
Balqis’ mom testified that Balqis has became a braver child and full of initiative, she also has more vocabularies because of the stories that she heard.
SMART LEARNING is a study group consists of 6-8 families who live near Cinta Baca Library. They are nurtured with a special curriculum that allows them to meet ten times a year in a group to increase the family’s interest in reading. In this program, parents are trained to creatively read books for their children and make it as a culture in the family. In the end of the program, families are expected to be able to independently access knowledge through reading despite their economy situation.
