The Tunas Betik Batu Putu Reading Post’s local operator in Palembang, Siti Maisaroh, is a teacher. She had a strong sense of concern for education so she opened a reading post at the school where she teaches. “I am grateful for the presence of the library here because it really helps me facilitate and provide interesting reading books that can be read by all students and parents. I am one of those who feels the positive impact of this reading post. My daughter, who used to not be able to read and just looked around, is now fluent in reading and does not want to sleep before I read a book to her,” Siti said. She hopes that this good thing is not only felt by herself but is also felt by the parents who live around the reading post. “I always encourage all the parents to establish the habit of reading story books to their children so that they can have a regular time like me and my daughter. I hope they will eventually have the habit of reading books to their children and pass that habit on to their friends.”
