Cinta Baca (CB) sposored another “Books of Character” program along with a coloring competition in the northern province of Aceh on (17, Feb, 2013). This program was run by three local volunteers: Ros, Wahyu and Taskur.
The program ran from 10:00 am until noon and attracted some 63 children. The kids ranged in age from preschool to elementary ages. The purpose of the drawing & coloring competition was to encourage the creativity of the children while the Books of Character program seeks to expose kids to the world of books in a new and fun way.

Besides the the three volunteers who ran the program, five others (Ari, Firman, Wita, Ima & Ainol) served as judges for the competition. Three other volunteers (Ana, Putri & Nika) also helped the program run smoothly being that there were so many kids present. Parents contributed Rp 5000 per child to enter them into this special event.
The entire program ran smoothly, and both the kids and the parents seemed to really enjoy. The kids where full of entusiasm as they waited to hear the winners of the different categories announced. We hope these kinds of programs will encourage kids to make reading a more consistent part of their lives, and also encourage them to further develop their creative abilities. It is our hope also to run simular programs for other preschools in the Lhong Raya and Banda Aceh region.
